Delay and customs charges
It isn't obvious from the website, which is an Irish site, that the spares you want will be sent from Britain. With Britain being outside the European Union, that means delays and customs charges.

As with other reviews
As with other reviews, DO NOT ORDER from eSpares. They were a reputable company but, according to their .ie website, they add on Irish Vat (an extra 3 %) to the UK Vat. Yet, when the item arrives in Ireland and because they have not registered with Irish Customs to indicate that they have deducted Irish VAT, Irish Customs must charge VAT at 23%. So eSpares are pocketing 23% VAT for themselves. Is this a SCAM? Also, they debit your account as Connect Distribution Services which along with Espares Limited, Electruepart Limited and CDSL Group Limited went into administration on 20 March 2023. REPEAT; DO NOT BUY FROM ESPARES.IE OR ESPARES.CO.UK

Wish I had read the reviews before…
Wish I had read the reviews before ordering. Although they are Vat registered in Ireland and state they charge 23% Vat for irish customers, they are incapable of completing the documentation correctly declaring Irish Vat was paid, resulting in the order being held by customs and an additional Vat and AnPost processing fee being charged. They are refusing to refund the charges, including the anpost fee, even though they are entirely to blame for the charges.

Avoid at all costs
Like many others, I ordered from the .ie site in good faith, paid all the related tax & delivery fee. Received an email to say the item was dispatched with a link to track it - tracking didn't work, got onto the chat function & was told no tracking available as via Royal Mail so why is it even included in the email?? Over a week later, I got an email from An Post looking for customs charges and yet another fee for delivery to be paid. Reached out to the customer service team who didn't read my email & sent a generic, templated email which didn't even address my query. I then replied & waited yet again for a response when once again, my request for a refund wasn't addressed. Still no resolution weeks later. Wish I'd read the reviews here first.

do not trust them
I bought an item from them. The first time it was left at my door, the courier -selected by espares- rang the bell and I could directly collect the package. Unfortunately, it was sent already damaged (unlikely it got damaged during transit because of the type of damage). I immediately contacted espares who told me to return it at their expenses, but they played on sending me wrong information and destination for the return. The customer service officer also said -we were communicating via online chat- that once I bought it again they would refund me 10% for the inconvenience.I managed to return the item and I was fully refunded after a couple of days.I bought the item again, but this time the delivery was late, and the item was delivered to someone else, despite espares swearing that I had received it and refusing to investigate were it had been delivered. The item eventually showed up several days later because I went around town making enquiries .Needless to say, espares refused to refund the 10% as promised, using the excuse that I would have to send them the email where they promised to do so, knowing well I couldn't because the promise was made on the online chat.In short: be very very careful with them.

NO HASSLE RETURNS...!!!
I purchased this item on March 12, it was delivered within a reasonable timeframe (March 21). I personally did not receive the item until March 26, due to work commitments. Unfortunately the item was the incorrect size. I contacted customer care on March 26 (07.20) to request the returns label for the item (T12020391). I received a response at 12.05 on March 29 and responded to this email at 12.08. I was asked the reason as to why I was returning the item and I was told the returns label would then be issued. I received another email on March 29 at 12.19 with advice as to how to find the correct item, I responded to this email at 12.25. It is now April 1 and I still have not received the returns label. The item needs to be returned before April 4 as the 14 days return period will have ran out by then but due to work commitments I need to send it today at the latest. I have contacted customer care looking for the returns label on March 29 (15.38), March 30 (13.15) and April 1 (09.25). I contacted customer service a second time and got a second ticket on March 30 (13.12) and I have not received a response to that either (T12022060). The website states you will receive a reply within 24 - 48 hours (Monday - Friday) which clearly isn't the case. I am returning the item today without the returns label/number and I will be attaching all of the email correspondence I have (invoice, dispatch email etc) on the outside of the parcel. This seems to be an absolute shambles of a return service and a very frustrating company to deal with.**UPDATE**The item was returned on April 6th, signed for by 'Con' at 09.55. I have contacted customer service who have informed me they have not received the item. Two weeks later and I am still waiting on the refund.

Lack of transparency
Lack of transparency and clear communication during the ordering process, which ultimately meant unexpected charges. If you order from Ireland then be prepared to pay VAT at a minimum (along with An Post admin charges). I won't be using this company again.Post review update. eSpares have contacted me to offer a refund of the unexpected charges, which I acknowledge with thanks. The ordering process and up-front communication continues to be unclear, therefore my rating is unchanged for this particular transaction.

FAQs
Why is my ceramic hob marked? ›
These marks can be caused by water or other organic materials which get in between the surface of the Hob and the Pan while cooking leaving dry deposits.
What's the best ceramic hob cleaner? ›For daily cleaning of induction and ceramic hobs we recommend HG hob cleaner. This removes daily dirt after cooking.
Why is my ceramic hob ring not working? ›Part of the ring is not warming up
If some or all areas of a hob ring are not getting hot enough, it may be that there's a faulty connection with the wires. The heating element could also be responsible – it may have burned, broken or short-circuited. If this has happened, it will almost certainly need replacing.
Hob – 10-15 years
Whether you have a gas or electric hob when problems start occurring it's important to take action quickly to guarantee optimal safety.
- Step 1: Clean Off Debris. The first thing you want to do is remove any loose debris on the surface of your hob. ...
- Step 2: Spray With Vinegar. ...
- Step 4: Sprinkle with Bicarbonate of Soda. ...
- Step 5: Wipe with Kitchen Roll. ...
- Step 6: Rinse Away the Remaining Residue.
Stone, glass and ceramic pans are not suitable to use on a ceramic hob because they do not conduct heat well. Aluminium, stainless steel and copper pans will work, but they do tend to leave marks on the glass, however because of the easy to wipe surface it should be quick to get rid of.
Can you polish scratches out of ceramic hob? ›Unfortunately, it's not possible to remove scratches from a ceramic hob. That's why you should always clean your hob properly and, where possible, avoid scratches.
What damages ceramic hobs? ›Don't put too much pressure or weight on the cooktop.
If you place heavy weight upon the cooktop and later choose to heat it, the glass or ceramic could shatter. Be careful when placing bakeware on the cooker top surface too, as when it is fresh out of the oven and extremely hot, it could also cause the top to break.
Keeping Ceramic Hobs Clean
The only known damage to the ceramic is the impact objects exert on it. The glass is not scratch resistant making them susceptible to scratches from pans and if cleaned vigorously.
Tip 3 - Remove scratches with toothpaste
Clean the glass ceramic hob. Apply toothpaste to a clean cloth. Gently rub the cloth over the scratches. Warning: Do not rub too firmly!
Can you damage a ceramic hob? ›
Many people love ceramic hobs and stove tops because of the way that they evenly cook food in an efficient manner versus other types of hobs. However, sadly, they can be subject to wear and tear that can cause permanent damage that is very visible – specifically when cracks form.
Can ceramic hobs be repaired? ›You can also arrange an appointment for the repair of your ceramic hob at a time that suits you online. Make an appointment online now and the repair of your ceramic hob will be done by us in no time and you'll be cooking with your repaired ceramic hob like a professional again.
What happens if you use a normal pan on a ceramic hob? ›Avoid using exposed aluminium or copper-based pans. These can leave a microscopic residue on the hob surface, making it difficult to clean.
Are ceramic hobs worth it? ›However, ceramic hobs also have their own advantages:
Unlike induction hobs, which require pots and pans with magnetised bases, ceramic hobs will heat up any type of cookware — meaning you don't have to re-stock your kitchen with new pots and pans. The set cooking zones may also work better for some cooks.
Keep in mind however, that although ceramic hobs are cheaper, they are less energy efficient and more expensive in the long run. Because heat needs to first pass through the heating elements and then heat the full surface of the ring, it takes a while to heat up and then cool down. This means residual heat is wasted.
Can you use Windex on ceramic stove? ›People often ask, “Can I use Windex on my glass or ceramic stovetop?” We don't recommend it. Glass cleaners contain ammonia and can lead to permanent stains and streaks on stove cooktops. It might seem like an easy clean, but ammonia is too strong of a chemical to consistently use on glass and ceramic cooktops.
What is the pink stuff on my ceramic hob? ›The Pink Stuff is a multipurpose cleaning product that is perfect for freshening up the surface of your oven's stove, removing burnt on stains and making the burner caps sparkle again. Simply apply The Pink Stuff paste directly onto the stove and use a soft cloth to spread the product evenly across the stove.

Cast iron cookware is safe to use on ceramic-glass stoves and cooktops and shouldn't cause damage to the pan or cooking surface when you follow the right tips. Because cast iron is heavy, always place it gently on the cooktop and pick up, rather than slide, when you need to move it around.
Can I use Pyrex on a ceramic hob? ›Classic glass Pyrex bakeware is not suitable to be heated on cooktops, ceramic or otherwise. Its bakeware dishes, casserole dishes and colorful mixing bowls, many of which came with traditional patterns, are a staple of many American homes.
Does vinegar damage glass top stoves? ›
Harsh abrasive cleansers will scratch your glass stovetop, so it's best to avoid them like the plague. Vinegar and baking soda are powerful enough to get your stove clean while being gentle enough to use without leaving marks.
Can I use magic eraser on ceramic cooktop? ›Avoid scrubbing brushing, scouring pads, Magic Erasers, or other abrasive cleaning equipment, because these can scratch the glass. Stick with a microfiber cloth or a soft sponge. And don't put too much elbow grease into the task.
Can you use cream cleaner on ceramic hob? ›We would recommend avoiding abrasive cleaners, like the many cream cleaners available on the market. These could damage the surface of the ceramic, remove any printing on the hob, and leave residues that cause a nasty smell when heated.
Does ceramic wax help with scratches? ›Do Ceramic Coatings Fill Scratches? The short answer is yes. The properties of ceramic paint coating make it so that it seeps into swirl marks and scratches on your car's vehicle. This does not actually repair the paint finish, though, and does not even visually hide the damage, unless the damage is extremely small.
What are the drawbacks of hob? ›Disadvantages. Unlike freestanding cooktops which are portable, a built-in hob is a permanent fixture so its position cannot be changed. - Built-in hobs are more expensive in comparison to the conventional freestanding hobs.
What pots should not be used on a ceramic cooktop? ›Never use plastic or aluminium foil dishes on the cooktop. Aluminium and copper-bottomed cookware can leave a metallic residue on the cooktop. If left, this becomes difficult to remove. Clean the cooktop after every use.
How do I make my ceramic cooktop look new? ›Using a paper towel, a clean cloth (soft and non-abrasive) or a cleaning pad made for glass-ceramic cooktops, wipe the cleaner on the surface. Remove the cleaner using a damp, clean sponge, cloth or paper towel. Wipe off any excess cleaner with a dry towel and buff the surface to restore its luster.
What are the pros and cons of a ceramic hob? ›A ceramic hob's zones are more efficient if used with the correct sized pans. Ceramic hobs are a lot more expensive to run than induction. They are also expensive to repair.
Do ceramic hobs use a lot of electricity? ›A ceramic cooktop requires a lot of energy to heat the cooking zones. In addition, the appliance remains warm for a long time after you finish cooking. That means that the device also loses a lot of energy. A ceramic cooktop consumes 225kWh per year and costs around € 90 per year.
What are the pros for ceramic hobs? ›A ceramic hob is undoubtedly the easiest style to keep clean, along with induction, and the smooth surface allows maximum heat transference to achieve rapid heat up times. This type of hob is available in either a rotary control knob or touch control style.
Can you use vinegar to clean a hob? ›
Combine 1-part baking soda with 1-part white vinegar in a bowl or spray bottle. Then cover the hob in the solution and leave for 30 minutes. When the time is up, wipe away the product with a soft damp cloth, repeat if necessary. The solution should make any grime easy to remove.
Will baking soda scratch ceramic cooktop? ›As a mild abrasive, baking soda will clear away all that gunk and residue, but don't worry—it's so mild that it won't scratch your glass cooking surface at all.
Is baking soda safe for ceramic cooktop? ›Leaving a stain to sit too long on the cooktop only makes it harder to clean. While some of the high-end cleaning solutions may help clean this, baking soda and vinegar should do the trick.
How do you clean a ceramic hob naturally? ›Induction and Ceramic Hobs
Clean the surface of the hob using warm water with washing up liquid and a soft cloth or sponge. Wipe dry with a clean cloth. Note: Dried out spillages should not be scraped off with metal tools, steel wool or any other abrasive cleaning material.
Only use a microfibre cloth. DON'T be tempted to try and scrape off dried-on foods. Anything sharp, even used with the most care will scratch the surface. DON'T use any cleaning products that aren't specifically designed for ceramic hobs.
Is hob difficult to maintain? ›Cleaning a gas cooktop is far more easy and worry-free. But cleaning a Built-in-Hob cooking range needs to be done very carefully. Any person in kitchen (be it servant or any relative) take care that water is not to be poured/spilled on Built-in-Hob like cooktops.
Why did my ceramic cooktop crack? ›Excessive Heat and Temperature Changes
Certain cookware sustains heat longer. This extended heat exposure can create enough stress to crack the glass. Food that has been cooked onto the surface can create hot spots that cause cracking.
In case the appliance is connected to the mains directly using a junction box, remove the fuse to disconnect the appliance from the power supply. The glass top on the appliance can be replaced and we would suggest this being carried out by an authorised service technician.
How do you keep a glass hob streak free? ›If you don't have cooktop cleaner handy, use a spritz of full strength white vinegar. It will cut grease and clean without streaking. Rinse and buff the glass dry with a soft cloth or paper towel.
How do you protect a ceramic hob when cooking? ›If you're worried about spills, you can use a stove guard to help protect your ceramic hob. Stove guards are usually made of silicone or glass and can be placed over the cooking area to help catch any spills.
Do ceramic hobs crack easily? ›
It is extremely unusual for a ceramic hob to crack on its own; most of the time, glass cooktops break because of improper use. Ceramic hobs are made using 'glass-ceramic'. Ceramic is a strong material, but it is quite brittle, and it cannot be heat treated for additional strength.
What is best to use on a ceramic hob? ›To ensure your ceramic hob remains in good condition and easy to clean, we recommend heavy gauge coated aluminium or hard anodized stainless-steel pans with a thick base. You can also use good quality enamel on steel or cast-iron pans, but these may scratch the hob surface.
What do you clean a ceramic hob with? ›Induction and Ceramic Hobs
Clean the surface of the hob using warm water with washing up liquid and a soft cloth or sponge. Wipe dry with a clean cloth. Note: Dried out spillages should not be scraped off with metal tools, steel wool or any other abrasive cleaning material.
Classic glass Pyrex bakeware is not suitable to be heated on cooktops, ceramic or otherwise. Its bakeware dishes, casserole dishes and colorful mixing bowls, many of which came with traditional patterns, are a staple of many American homes.
Why do ceramic hobs scratch so easily? ›Clean Your Hob Thoroughly
Food can act like sand when it's left to sit on a hub after cooking. Most hob scratches happen because the pressure of the pan on the hob “grinds” food into the surface. As you move the pan around, you're creating scratches.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to remove scratches from a ceramic hob. That's why you should always clean your hob properly and, where possible, avoid scratches. To avoid your hob getting even more scratches in future, we recommend cleaning it with our Bosch ceramic & induction hob cleaner.
What is the difference between glass and ceramic hob? ›Both hobs have the same sleek look and glass finish, but the technology underneath the surface is what makes all the difference. Ceramic hobs have heating elements beneath the glass which conduct heat to the ring which then heats the pot or pan on the surface.
Do all ceramic cooktops scratch easily? ›You can easily wipe the remnants of any dish off your ceramic unit, just be sure to use the proper cleaning solution and wipe away carefully, as ceramic cooktops can be scratched easily. Ultimately, the biggest pro of a ceramic cooktop is the modern aesthetic it brings to your kitchen.
