After 2 off-road vehicles, I wanted to approach something different, yet still quite popular, and after giving it some thought, the Peugeot 205 sound like the perfect choice

This new, 130bhp 205 GTI 1.9's most obvious visual change from the 1.6 was its larger wheels - 15in instead of 14in, still wearing 185-section tyres but 55-profile instead of 60 - with fewer, larger holes. Behind those wheels were larger front hubs with a revised offset, tougher driveshafts and, at the back, disc brakes instead of drums.

At the end of 1986, Peugeot introduced a version of the 205 GTI with a larger 1.9L engine. The GTI 1.9 was equipped with a 126hp 1.9L inline four, making it capable of completing the 0-62mph sprint in 7.8sec and boasted a top speed of 127mph. Later models with catalytic converter produced slightly less power, with output rated at 120hp.
