I sent him the quite striking replacement for it, a repainted frameset.

PXN-10 (1980) PY-10 (1976-1979) This was Peugeot's top model throughout the 70's. The PY-10 was identical to the Peugeot factory team's bikes. 531-DB tubing, gold anodized Mafac brakes.. Modern road bikes are called velo route in France, and the Peugeot Course was a popular and frequent road bike model in the brand's catalogues of the 1980's. Many of these Course models were just bread and butter bikes, especially as the '80s progressed. Some had Carbolite tubing and pretty basic components.

Peugeot's HLE Steel. HLE stands for "Haute Limite Elastique", which translates as "high limit of elasticity". It was composed of manganese, nobelium, aluminum, carbon and titanium, creating a "micro-alloyed steel". The frame was internally brazed which was a technique that Peugeot patented, and most of Peugeot HLE bikes were low.

Peugeot PH 501 from the 1980's I like this era of Peugeot bikes, a time when technology was changing and the brand's grip on the market was slowly but surely slipping away. Peugeot were still making cool bikes at this time, I'm in doubt about it. In fact, some of my favourite bikes over the years have been Peugeot bikes made between 1984 - 1990.
