The ashtray is original, hand molded out of a heavy art glass of transparent glass in shades of blue and yellow. Excellent condition. This piece is attributed to the above-mentioned designer/maker.

This art glass bowl was designed by Frantisek Zemek as a part of his Niagara collection and produced by Glass Factory Mstisov in former Czechoslovakia during the 1960s. The Niagara collection designed by Zemek was inspired by the rumblings of water falling under a waterfall. This glass bowl is in amber and emerald-colored glass.

Frantisek Zemek (1913-60) is arguably one of the lost great names in 20th century glass design, and was key to the development of hot-worked glass in Czechoslovakia. Starting his career as a glass cutter for the Inwald group, he went on to study at the Zelezny Brod glass school, and then under the renowned Professor Karel Stipl.

It combines the rosaline pink with clear white glass, which is spiraled with a cobalt blue. All combined in what could seem like a natural shape, but it is well thought through art glass.
