A large wetland area along the trail offers good birding. Scuba diving, swimming, and kayaking are also popular activities at Smuggler Cove, in addition to hiking.

Smuggler Cove is a small day-use only park with picturesque all-weather anchorage on the south side of Sechelt Peninsula near Secret Cove. Only overnight anchorage is available. Camping is not permitted in the park. It is a 4 km hike from the parking lot to Smuggler Cove. Dogs must be kept on a leash while in the park. No available garbage disposal.
