The 735i was a variant of the E38 BMW 7 Series that was introduced for the 1996 model year. The 735i, and its long wheelbase 735iL sibling, were powered by BMW's M62B35 engine. This 3.5L V8 engine produced 232hp and was mated to manual and automatic transmission options sending power to the rear wheels.

The BMW 735i is one of the E38 model family from BMW. Its 3.5 litre engine is a naturally aspirated, double overhead camshaft, 8 cylinder unit that develops 235 bhp (238 PS/175 kW) of power at 5800 rpm, and maximum torque of 345 N·m (254 lb·ft/35.2 kgm) at 3800 rpm.
