The hokkaido scallop, eel with cream cheese, ikura norimaki were my absolute favorites and the fried gyoza was perfection. It was a pretty cool experience having our beverages and wasabi delivered via robot. Also, the touchscreen menu and plate drop/clearing system at the table worked well. We enjoyed ourselves.

Ambiance/ Service (out of 2): 2/2 Kura, which is a conveyor-belt styled sushi restaurant, had a great perk: there is always food available. Sure, to get your exact roll of choice, you have to wait a little, but.

Ikura sushi is a common name for a type of gunkanmaki topped with ikura —plump orbs of salmon roe. Ikura is usually marinated in soy sauce, and the sushi is assembled by wrapping nori seaweed around a ball of sushi rice. The combination is then topped with a spoonful of roe. This sushi type is a relatively recent invention that became popular.

Roll your rice into 2-3 cm balls, keeping your hands wet to avoid them sticking. Wrap the nori around the rice, with the shiny side facing outwards. Use a grain of rice to seal the nori together. Place a spoonful of ikura on the top, ensuring it covers the surface of the rice. Serve with soy sauce and ginger.

To serve: drain the liquid. Store the salmon roe in a clean glass jar. The salmon roe, now cured, is ready to eat ^_^.
