The Vickers main battle tank (MBT) was one of the first post-World War II attempts at designing an MBT expressly for export to Third World nations. Following a 1961 Anglo-German competition for an Indian army contract, the Vickers MBT Mk 1 was put into production in India as the "Vijayanta" (Victor ious), where it apparently fulfilled requirements quite well.
